Nanas 2018

This 2018 LaMicro returned to the stage with Nanas, by Chilean playwright Leonardo González to celebrate 15 years. In 2017, the play was recognized with H.O.L.A., ATI, and LATA Awards in several categories, including best acting, best production, and best playwriting. Nanas uses humor and communal storytelling to explore gender, class, and privilege through the stories of four immigrant women. Directed by Tatiana Pandiani, Nanas brings us the testimonies of these immigrant women, their trials and tribulations, the pain and endurance but also a sense of joy and pride while earning a living as domestic workers. Beyond personal stories, their experiences reflect relations that circumscribe the dynamics of power and domination between employer and employee and the discrimination that immigrants face in a foreign country.
